A Place to Date Your Artistic Partner

I know a lot of people that just want to dine in a quiet place with a nice view. And although the city has restaurants on top of buildings with a beautiful night view of lights upon lights, some of us appreciate the quiet indoors, the art of silence and solemnity stuck to a wall, painted or drawn by a person completely enamored by the idea of expressing emotions without words. This place is exactly it.

A while back, I wanted to relax and just dive into art after a long day. Mark and I decided to eat out where there's almost nobody around and just appreciate that silence. We went to Artists Gallery or Artists Haven Cafe in BF Parañaque. Online, they appear to register on these two names.

The outside itself stands out from the shops and restaurants surrounding it.

Cheesecake for daaays: Your Customized Cheesecake

It all started with my mom talking about a cheesecake that her friend was raving about. A few years back, my friends and I were trying to find the best cheesecake made and I ultimately ended up choosing Cake2Go for their delicious Devil's Food Cheesecake. My second choice was Don Limone's which has since closed down like all underrated restaurants in the south. New branches built are far from home now.

A few months ago, this got my interest since it was supposedly customizable cheesecake dipped in ice cream, but all we had to go with was this blurry photo from my mom's friend because she couldn't remember the name of the place.

Oreo Ball Cake - Easy Cake Recipe

This cake was originally made for Easter as a giant chocolate ball cake. Posting this a little late because..time. Here's a quick video and the ingredients below.

#LongWeekend Sunday Fest: Fat Melts

This weekend is by far the longest weekend I've had in more than a year. I opted to go on continuous leave. In celebration of July 4th, there's no work which makes my weekend 4 1/2 days long. YES. Day 1 was spent on watching The Book of Life (admiring La Muerte's awesome makeup) and trying to recuperate from being sick for a long time (hello, expensive medication.) Day 2: Sunday was spent doing many things, which will be the primary of this post.

Dinner at Daniele's Casa Mia

A few years back, I was going to random unknown restaurants and trying out new food. Daniele's was this little place by the side of the road where you had to walk in a tiny way to enter the place. I didn't know what the food would be like. I entered the tiny place amused by its Italian theme and sat down to eat. To my surprise, the owner of the restaurant came in to check each table if the food was to the customer's taste. "This guy's a real Italian, complete with the look, the accent, and all;" I thought to myself as I continued eating what was served.

The food was delicious, the service was pleasant, and the place was homey. I had gone back 2 to 3 more times and each time, it was great service, and the food was exquisite. A few years had passed and I had tried multiple new restaurants that was built around the area, but I hadn't forgotten about that little Italian restaurant. Simply put, I wanted to know how the place was doing.

I'd returned last night with a special someone to share the experience with. I was thoroughly entertained that when I googled it, so many things came up. I was even more delighted to see how the place has transformed since I last visited. It had won awards, renovated into a bigger area, but maintained it's homey feel.

Baking Chocolate Cake with Nutella Frosting using a Pressure Cooker

Baking cake with a pressure cooker is quite fun. Just the shorter waiting period and no worries of unevenly cooked cake is taking all the stress out of baking.

For the mean time, I used my phone to take this video since it's a bit difficult to make space in my house for a nice video setting. Cue the avalanche of things everywhere.

I tested the app "wevideo" to amateur edit this. Here's the making of the cake video:

Baking Lemon Cake with a Pressure Cooker

Over the last weekend, I’ve experimented on baking. So far, so good. Beginner baking can be pretty easy with just two things, a mixer and a pressure cooker. Ovens still scare me a little. (Unevenly cooked mush -_-) Pressure cookers are great even if you don’t see what’s going on inside, it comes out perfectly baked.

Malunggay Pandesal (Bread) | The Benefits of Malunggay Leaves

A few years ago our kasambahay told me about a new type of pandesal (bread) that she tasted. She said, unlike the typical pandesal, this one was made with malunggay leaves. Knowing that malunggay leaves have some good health benefits, I opted to give it a try and asked her to bring me some the next time she comes over.

How does it taste?

Delicious. For a mere 2 Php per piece, this was really worth it. I was never really a big fan of pandesal because I found it too grainy. Somehow, since this tastes a little sweeter and was softer than any other pandesal that I ever tasted, I really enjoyed it. A healthy breakfast for only 10 Pesos or less?? Unfreaking believable. I love it too much.

Here are some benefits of Malunggay Leaves:
